YouBand LLC ("YouBand," "we," "us," or "our") operates the YouBand platform, accessible at youband.app and this.band (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you use our Platform.

By using YouBand, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Who We Are

YouBand LLC is a company incorporated in the United States. Our Platform is a band management and musician networking service designed for cover bands and working musicians.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • **Account information**: name, email address, username
  • **Profile information**: stage name, biography, profile photo, location (city, state, country)
  • **Musical information**: instruments, genres, experience level, availability, influences, equipment notes
  • **Social links**: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Spotify profile URLs
  • **Payment links**: tip/payment URLs you choose to display on your public profile (e.g., Venmo, PayPal, Cash App)
  • **Date of birth**: used solely for musician matching purposes; not displayed publicly
  • **Video links**: YouTube video URLs you add to your profile
  • **Band and setlist data**: band names, members, setlists, events, songs

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • **Usage data**: pages visited, features used, time spent on the Platform
  • **Device and browser information**: browser type, operating system, IP address
  • **Analytics data**: collected via PostHog analytics (see Section 7)
  • **Cookies**: see Section 8

3.3 Information from Third Parties

  • **Google OAuth and Microsoft OAuth**: when you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from the respective provider. We do not receive your password.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Display your public musician profile at youband.app/[username]
  • Enable band management features (setlists, events, members, songs)
  • Match you with other musicians based on location, instruments, experience, and availability
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, invitations, notifications)
  • Improve the Platform through analytics
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Prevent fraud and abuse

**We do not sell your personal information to third parties.**

5. Payment Links and Tip Transactions

YouBand allows you to display a payment link (e.g., Venmo, PayPal, Cash App) on your public profile so fans and audience members can send you tips directly.

**Important:**

  • YouBand does not process, facilitate, or take commission from any tip transactions
  • All transactions occur directly between the sender and your chosen payment provider
  • YouBand has no visibility into individual transactions
  • For any payment issues, contact your payment provider directly
  • You are responsible for ensuring your payment link is correct and compliant with your provider's terms

6. How We Share Your Information

6.1 Public Profile

Information you add to your public profile (name, photo, bio, instruments, genres, videos, social links, tip link) is visible to anyone who visits your public profile URL at youband.app/[username].

6.2 Service Providers

We share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the Platform:

  • **Supabase** (database hosting, AWS us-west-2, United States)
  • **Vercel** (web hosting and deployment)
  • **Resend** (transactional email delivery)
  • **PostHog** (product analytics)
  • **Google** (authentication via OAuth)
  • **Microsoft** (authentication via OAuth)

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.

6.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of YouBand, our users, or the public.

6.4 Business Transfers

If YouBand is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is transferred and subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Analytics — PostHog

We use PostHog to understand how users interact with our Platform. PostHog collects anonymized usage data including page views, feature usage, and session information. We use this data solely to improve YouBand.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve the Platform.

**Types of cookies we use:**

Essential cookies are required for authentication and core platform functionality.

Analytics cookies are used by PostHog to understand usage patterns and feature adoption.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using the Platform. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use YouBand.

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, we will request your consent before placing non-essential cookies.

9. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers located in the **United States (AWS us-west-2)**. If you are located outside the United States, including in the European Union, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

For EU/EEA users, this transfer is made on the basis of standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms under GDPR.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

10. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

11. Age Requirement

YouBand is intended for users who are **18 years of age or older**. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account and delete their data promptly.
